WorkPro Office Chairs Recalled After Fall Injuries Reported
In January 2025, the manufacturing company Veyer LLC recalled about 64,000 WorkPro® Momentum Office Chairs after people were injured in falls because the back of the seat broke off the base of the chair.
What is the Problem?
WorkPro Office Chairs were recalled because the “bolts that connect the back of the chair to its base can fail,” which poses a fall hazard and a risk of serious injuries to people who are using this office chair.
How Many People Were Injured?
Veyer received 7 reports of people who fell out of the chair, resulting in two minor injuries. There was no description of the types of injuries.
How To Identify Recalled Office Chairs
WorkPro Office Chairs are ergonomic chairs that were sold in two colors: black (model number 8517865) or gray (model number 2864384). The model number is on a label under the seat cushion. They have a metal frame, cushioned seat, 5 wheels and a high back.
Sold at Office Depot / Office Max and Online
The recalled office chairs were sold nationwide from October 2021 through September 2024 for about $430. They were sold at Office Depot and OfficeMax stores, and online at www.amazon.com, www.officedepot.com, www.walmart.com, www.ebay.com and more.
The recall does NOT include Momentum Office Chairs sold after January 2025, which already have the corrected parts inside the box.
What Should I Do?
Office Depot has provided a recall website at: https://help.officedepot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7555/kw/recall for more information, or to register for a repair kit.
The manufacturer is warning customers not to use the recalled WorkPro Office Chairs until they can be repaired. The free repair kit consists of a back bracket, three bolts, an Allen wrench and a decorative cover.
