44,000 Wolf Ranges Recalled for Griddle Turning on Unexpectedly
On November 7, 2024, Wolf Appliance announced a recall for about 44,000 Wolf Dual Fuel Ranges with Infrared Griddles due to a fire hazard and a risk of burn injuries.
What is the Problem?
Wolf recalled the ranges after 36 reports of the griddles turning on unexpectedly in the U.S. and Canada. No injuries or fires were reported, but the problem could cause burn injuries or result in a fire.
In the recall, Wolf Appliance explained that “the range can short-circuit if liquids boil over or are spilled and turn on the griddle unexpectedly.”
How To Identify Recalled Wolf Ranges
Wolf Appliance recalled certain Wolf® Dual Fuel Ranges with Infrared Griddles, which measure 36 inches, 48 inches, or 60 inches wide. The ranges have serial numbers between 18517201 and 18868311.
The serial and model numbers are printed on the rating plate underneath the top of the oven.
The following products are included in the recall:
- 36″ Dual Fuel Range — 4 Burners and Infrared Griddle
- 48″ Dual Fuel Range — 4 Burners and Infrared Griddle
- 48″ Dual Fuel Range — 4 Burners, Infrared Charbroiler and Infrared Griddle
- 48″ Dual Fuel Range — 6 Burners and Infrared Griddle
- 60″ Dual Fuel Range — 6 Burners and Infrared Griddle
- 60″ Dual Fuel Range — 6 Burners, Infrared Charbroiler and Infrared Griddle
Where Were They Sold?
Wolf Dual Fuel Ranges were sold in the U.S. and Canada, where safety officials warned: “A spill of liquids (such as a boil over) can cause a short-circuit in a plug of an electronic component which controls the griddle. The griddle can turn on unexpectedly.”
In the U.S., the ranges were sold at home appliance stores from August 2020 to September 2024 for between $12,500 and $23,000.
What Should I Do?
