Walmart Jack Stand Recall
In August 2020, Walmart recalled nearly 14,000 Hyper Tough® 2-Ton Jack Stands because they can collapse and cause severe injury or death. The recalled jack stands were sold at Walmart nationwide.
What is the Problem?
The recalled jack stands could potentially break under a lifted vehicle. They may not be able to support the rated load without collapsing.
A jack stand that breaks can suddenly drop and cause severe injury or death to anyone standing nearby or working under a lifted vehicle.
According to Walmart, “The product recently failed testing by an independent third party laboratory. The failure occurred in the ratcheting bar, which could result in the collapse of a vehicle being supported by the jack stand, potentially resulting in injury to persons near or under the lifted vehicle.”
