July 7, 2023 — About 190,000 VRURC Portable Chargers were recalled after a fire occurred during a commercial flight.
The recall involves VRURC Portable Chargers with model number “OD-B7,” which were sold exclusively on Amazon.com.
The chargers were recalled after one of them overheated and caught on fire during a commercial flight. Four flight attendants had to be transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries.
The recalled chargers were sold from July 2021 through May 2023 for between $30 and $40.
Consumers are being urged to immediately stop using their recalled chargers. The products should be stored in a safe location and disposed of at a facility that accepts lithium-ion batteries.
