Overview
Vaginal mesh is a hammock-like medical device that is implanted into a woman’s pelvis to support sagging, weakened pelvic muscles — a common complication of multiple pregnancies and aging. Weak pelvic muscles can cause two disorders: Pelvic Organ Prolapse, in which abdominal organs protrude into the vagina, and Stress Urinary Incontinence, in which weak muscles allow the urethra to open accidentally.
Serious side effects of vaginal mesh are not rare, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued several safety warnings. The most common complication is vaginal mesh erosion into the vagina and/or perforation of internal organs, which may require multiple corrective surgeries. Some women have chronic pain, nerve damage, and severe disfigurement.
There are hundreds of lawsuits pending against the major manufacturers of these devices. Women continue to contact vaginal mesh lawyers and they continue to file new vaginal mesh lawsuits. If you decide to file a vaginal mesh lawsuit for your injury, you could be entitled to compensation for your pain and suffering, past and future medical expenses, lost income, decreased quality of life, and more.
