April 16, 2024 — A woman from Ohio has filed a lawsuit claiming that Trulicity caused her to suffer from stomach paralysis, nausea, vomiting and other serious injuries.
The lawsuit was filed by Allee S., a woman from Iowa who was severely injured after using Trulicity, an injectable medicine that is used to control blood-sugar levels in adults with type-2 diabetes.
After using Trulicity from May 2021 to January 2022, she was diagnosed with gastroparesis (also known as “stomach paralysis”) and other severe complications.
Trulicity caused her “to suffer from gastroparesis and its sequelae, which resulted in, for example, persistent vomiting, persistent diarrhea, extreme abdominal pain, requiring additional medications to treat diarrhea and vomiting, and multiple emergency room visits,” according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit accuses the drug-maker, Eli Lilly & Co., of inadequately warning patients and doctors about the risk of “serious and dangerous injuries, including gastroparesis,” and other severe injuries.
These lawsuits claim that Eli Lilly knew or should have known about the risk, but failed to provide adequate warnings and did not sufficiently test it for safety risks.
Her lawsuit was filed against Eli Lilly & Co. on April 5, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa (Cedar Rapids Division) — Case Number 1:24-cv-00035
