Trader Joe’s Edamame Recalled for Listeria Risk
In December 2020, the Nevada-based Tesoros Trading Co. recalled Trader Joe’s Lightly Salted Edamame due to a risk of food poisoning infections with Listeria.
Was My Edamame Recalled?
The recall includes 16-ounce bags of frozen edamame that were sold at Trader Joe’s grocery stores in Arizona, Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Utah. The bags are stamped with one of the following lot numbers: 22LA102 M or 22LA102 N or 22LA102 P.
The recall also includes lot number 22LA080 B, according to the recall notice posted to Trader Joe’s website on December 18, 2020.
What Should I Do?
Consumers who purchased the recalled edamame should return it to the Trader Joe’s store where it was purchased for a full refund.
Anyone who ate the recalled edamame should watch for symptoms of a Listeria infection for up to 90 days after eating the product, and seek medical attention immediately if the symptoms do appear.
Symptoms of a Listeria Infection
Healthy adults who are infected with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria may develop a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea.
Pregnant women may have few symptoms, but they are 20-times more likely to be infected with Listeria. An infection can cause a miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, low birth weight baby, or a life-threatening infection in the newborn infant.
