March 18, 2024 — Trader Joe’s has recalled certain bags of cashews that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recall involves Trader Joes Nuts – 50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews – (SKU Number – 37884) Lot# T12139, T12140, T12141, and T12142.
These bags of recalled cashews were sold at Trader Joe’s locations in the states of AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, LA, NM, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, UT, and WA.
No illnesses were reported, but people who are infected with Salmonella can develop severe food poisoning infections.
The problem was discovered through routine testing by the FDA during import, when at least one of the recalled lots tested positive for Salmonella. The cashews were imported from India or Vietnam.
Trader Joe’s is urging customers to return the recalled bags of cashews to the place of purchase for a full refund.
