Stokke YOYO3 Strollers Recalled for Injury Hazard
In November 2024, thousands of Stokke YOYO³ strollers were recalled because a parent or caregiver could accidentally release the parking brake, which poses an injury hazard.
What is the Problem?
Stokke, a baby products company in Norway, said it discovered a parking brake issue in certain YOYO³ Strollers that “could result in an unintentional release of the brake during use.” There were no consumer reports of parking brake malfunctions, but Stokke decided to recall the strollers “out of an abundance of caution.”
Stroller Parking Brake Failure Could Cause Serious Injuries
No injuries were reported when the YOYO³ Stroller recall was announced on November 14, 2024, but a child could be seriously injured in a stroller accident if the parking brake releases unexpectedly.
What is the Risk?
If the parking brake malfunctions or releases unexpectedly, the stroller could roll away with a child inside if the parent or caregiver is unable to stop it.
This could lead to a serious or even deadly accident if it rolls into traffic, down a hill, or crashes into something like a tree or water. The child could fall out, suffer life-threatening injuries, or death in this type of accident.
Where Were They Sold?
The recall involves about 2,890 Stokke YOYO³ Strollers that were sold between September 2024 and October 2024 for about $450.
They were available in stores and online at Bloomingdale’s, Crate and Barrel, Nordstrom, Albee Baby, MacroBaby, stokke.com, Amazon.com and Babylist.com.
What Should I Do?
Parents and caregivers can check if their YOYO³ stroller is being recalled by looking for the serial number on a label under the seat.
The recalled strollers have serial numbers starting with “142AA” followed by numbers that fall below “0062239.” You can also enter the serial number on the recall website to check if it is part of the recall.
If your stroller was recalled, immediately stop using it and visit the recall website to register for a full refund at: https://recall.stokke.com/yoyo3. The refund will be sent to you in the form of a check.
