UPDATE: Biltmore Smoked Salmon Recalled for Listeria Risk
In March 2023, Seven Seas International USA Inc. recalled 295 cases of Biltmore® Smoked Wild Sockeye Salmon after health officials reported a positive test for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria contamination. No illnesses were reported. The salmon was sold at Publix and possibly other stores. The recalled packages were sold before March 14, 2023. They are labeled with Lot Code R4058 and a Best-By Date of April 14, 2023.
Oregon Lox Company Recalls Smoked Salmon for Listeria Risk
In November 2021, Oregon Lox Company recalled Wild Cold Smoked Keta Salmon Lox under three brand-names (Aqua Nova, North Coast, and Tony’s) due to a risk of Listeria contamination. The recalled salmon was distributed in Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington.
The recall involves Batch Lot 22821 of the following products:
- Aqua Nova Sliced Nova Lox 3oz package
- Aqua Nova Sliced Nova Lox 1lb pack
- Aqua Nova Premium Oregon Nova Lox (Sliced)
- North Coast Traditional Nova Lox
- North Coast Smoked Salmon Trim 3lb
- Aqua Nova Premium Oregon Nova Lox (UnSliced)
- Tony’s Smoked Salmon Lox 8oz pack
Loki Fish Co. Recalls Keta Salmon Lox
In August 2021, Loki Fish Co. recalled 4-oz packages of Keta Salmon Lox after a product tested positive for Listeria. The recalled products were sold at 5 stores in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon.
Banner Smoked Fish Recall
In June 2021, Banner Smoked Fish Inc. announced 3 expanded recalls for dozens of smoked fish, salads, pickled fish and cream sauces that may be contaminated with Listeria.
Catsmo LLC Recalls Cold Smoked Salmon
In December 2019, Catsmo LLC recalled dozens of cold smoked salmon products due to a risk of Listeria. The products wre labeled as Daniel Boulud, Nova, Gold, Scottish, Loin, Pastrami, Organic, Bourbon Pepper, Red Beet, Gravelox, Irish, or First Course.
Santa Barbara Smokehouse Recalls Smoked Salmon
In 2015, Santa Barbara Smokehouse issued multiple recalls for cold smoked salmon due a risk of Listeria contamination, including some products that were sold at Whole Foods. The first recall was announced in January 2015 and another recall was announced in June 2015.
