Climbing Ropes Recalled After Person Suffers Spinal Injury

In February 2025, Setsmart recalled about 22,500 LoGest Climbing Ropes because they can weaken and break, which poses a fall hazard and a risk of severe, life-threatening injuries or death.

What Happened?

Setsmart said it received 13 reports of the recalled LoGest Climbing Ropes breaking, “including one report of a fall that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury,” according to the recall notice.

Where Were They Sold?

LoGest Climbing Ropes were sold online at Amazon.com from March 2021 through November 2024 for between $20 and $70.

How To Identify Recalled Climbing Ropes

The recalled climbing ropes are made of hemp. The name “LoGest” is written in large white text on the black plastic on the ends of the ropes.

LoGest Climbing Ropes were sold in 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 feet lengths. The recall involves two styles of ropes:

  • LoGest Climbing Rope with Carabiner has a silver “D” ring and a silver climbing carabiner attached.
  • LoGest Climbing Rope with Heavy-Duty Metal Hook has a blue stripe running through the brown hemp rope and has one end with a black metal hook attached with two silver bolts and nuts

What Should I Do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled climbing ropes, uninstall them, and register for a full refund.

To get a refund, you must follow the directions on the form and email a photo of the destroyed rope. Full refunds will be issued via Amazon to the original form of payment, according to Setsmart.
