Hepatitis A is a highly-contagious virus that causes a liver disease. In recent years, frozen berries have been a recurrent source of Hepatitis A outbreaks and recalls.
The symptoms typically begin within 15-50 days after a person eats contaminated food. A mild illness may only last a few weeks, but in severe cases, the infection can last for months or cause liver failure.
The symptoms of a Hepatitis A infection include fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stool.
