Merck & Co.’s blockbuster hair-loss drug Propecia (finasteride) has been associated with severe side effects, including sexual dysfunction that persists after the drug is discontinued.
Propecia Lawsuits Centralized in Federal Litigation
The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation (JPML) created the Propecia MDL on April 16, 2012. Within one year, over 400 Propecia lawsuits were centralized in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York before Judge John Gleeson. Lawsuits allege that Merck failed to warn about the risk of persistent sexual dysfunction after discontinuing Propecia.
