UPDATE: Oskri Organics Recalls ALL Nut Butters for Listeria Risk
January 2019 — Oskri Organics has recalled all nut butters after multiple products tested positive for Listeria contamination. The recalled nut butters include: Almond, Cashew, Coconut, Peanut (all flavor varieties), Pumpkin, Sunflower, and Tahini. No illnesses were reported, but infections with Listeria can be deadly. The recall includes ALL Oskri Corporation nut butters with “Best By” dates of June 2020 (6/20) and earlier. They were distributed in the following states: New York, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, Texas, Arizona, Indiana, Idaho, Oregon, South Carolina, and Rhode Island.

Inspired Organics Recalls Nut & Seed Butters for Listeria Risk
January 2019 — Inspired Organics has recalled almond butter, tahini butter, and sunflower butter due to a possible risk of contamination with Listeria.
Organic Tahini Butter and Sunflower Butter Recall
In January 2019, the FDA announced a recall for certain Oskri® and Thrive® sunflower butter and tahini butter after an unnamed “customer” tested a random product and it was positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that causes food poisoning.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported, but Listeria infections can be very serious, especially for young children, older adults, and people with weak immune systems. In pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or infection of a newborn.
What Products Were Recalled?
Oskri Organics Corp. of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, recalled the following tahini butter and sunflower butter products:
- Oskri Organic Sunflower Butter Lot #099, and a UPC number of 666016401295 — Distributed in Ohio
- Oskri Tahini Butter LOT #193, and a UPC number of 666016401301 — Distributed in CA, AZ, GA, CT, IN, TX, FL, ID, SC, NH.
- Thrive Sunflower Butter LOT #233, and a UPC number of 671635704825 — Distributed in Indiana.
All of the recalled products were sold in 16-oz jars.
What Should I Do?
The products have a long shelf-life, with expiration dates on products more than 1 year in the future. Oskri is urging anyone with the recalled products to immediately destroy them.

Symptoms of Listeriosis
Infections with Listeria monocytogenes cause an illness known as listeriosis. Symptoms may not appear for up to 70 days. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or pregnancy complications.
