Nutribullet Class Action Lawsuit
In June 2018, a class action lawsuit was filed in California alleging that the NutriBullet is defective because the canister can pressurize, detach from the base, and explode out its contents. Lawyers for victims say the explosions can occur without warning, even when making cold smoothies, because heat from the spinning blades can heat up the liquids until they are dangerously hot.
Is My NutriBullet Defective?
The class action lawsuit includes all NutriBullet blenders that were manufactured between January 1, 2007 and today.
Who Filed the NutriBullet Lawsuit?
The class action was filed by a woman from South Carolina who was injured by a NutriBullet 900 Series. She was blending water, walnuts, sea moss and cinnamon for 60 seconds when it suddenly exploded and burned her.
She suffered 2nd-degree burns on her chest and 1st-degree burns on her arms, forcing her to stop working and pay nearly $6,000 in medical bills, according to the lawsuit:
“The hot mixture spewed onto [the plaintiff], damaging her clothing. But, more importantly, it got on her arms and chest causing her skin to burn and requiring her to seek medical treatment at Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc. and Health First in Charleston, South Carolina.”
Nutribullet Explosions & Injuries
The NutriBullet blender has a 600-watt motor with razor-sharp blades. If the food or liquids get too hot, pressure in the canister can increase to dangerous levels — and it can potentially explode when opened. Some of the potential injuries include:
- Burns
- Cuts and lacerations
- Scarring
- Eye injury
- Disfigurement
Lawsuits Claim Nutribullet is Dangerous
Homeland Housewares, the manufacturer of the Nutribullet and Magic Bullet blenders, is accused of failing to fix design flaws to prevent explosions. According to lawyers who filed a Nutribullet injury lawsuit:
“The company is aware of the problem and, in fact, we have brought a prior lawsuit against a common manufacturer based on the Magic Bullet’s similar design defect.”
What is the problem?
The Schmidt Firm, PLLC is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but our lawyers are not filing a Nutribullet class action lawsuit. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits for people who were injured.
About Class Actions
Class actions are filed by a person on behalf of everyone else who has the same legal claim against the same company. Each person joins the class action lawsuit and shares the payout equally.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
If one person has far more serious injuries than the average plaintiff, class action lawsuits can have major disadvantages. The people in the class action may have to accept a low settlement or higher fees.
Our lawyers are filing individual Nutribullet lawsuits so we can focus on helping people who were seriously burned or injured. If you decide to file a lawsuit, you could receive compensation for your medical expenses, permanent disability, scarring, and other financial losses.
