August 31, 2017 — Centurion Labs recalled Ninjacof and Ninjacof A Cold Medicine due to a risk of life-threatening bacterial infections.
Centurion Labs issued the recall after being notified by the FDA that Ninjacof was made in a facility that is contaminated with an antibiotic-resistant bacteria called Burkholderia cepacia (“B. cepacia”).
The FDA did not report any infections, but warned that B. cepacia infections can be severe or life-threatening in at-risk patients:
“Use of a product that may contain B. cepacia, could result in infections in patients with compromised immune systems and in patients with chronic lung conditions such as cystic fibrosis.”
The recall involves 2 lots of Ninjacof (473 mL bottles) with Expiration Dates of 11/2018, including:
- Ninjacof Lot# 200N1601 (NDC 23359-032-16)
- Ninjacof A with Lot# 201NA1601 (NDC 23359-033-16)
The recalled Ninjacof products were distributed in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
