Lawsuit Filed for Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker Burns

Lawsuit Filed for Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker Burns

December 9, 2024 — A woman who was burned by a Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-cooker has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturers, Sunbeam Products and Newell Brands.

The lawsuit was filed by Jazmin P., a woman from Ohio who was burned on Christmas Day — December 25, 2022 — while using the Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-cooker (Model #CCPPC 600-V1).

According to her lawsuit, the pressure cooker is defective because the lid can be removed with normal force when the unit is pressurized.

Two years before she was burned, safety officials announced a recall for more than 900,000 Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-cookers, including the pressure cooker that exploded and caused her injuries.

She claims that she “was able to remove the lid while the Pressure Cooker retained pressure, causing her serious and substantial bodily injuries and damages,” according to her lawsuit.

The defendants, Sunbeam Products and Newell Brands, are accused of “demonstrating a callous, reckless, willful, depraved indifference to the health, safety and welfare of Plaintiff and consumers like her.”

She claims they knew (or should have known) that the Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker was defective, but put profit ahead of safety by continuing to sell their pressure cookers, despite the risk.

The Crock-Pot Pressure Cooker Lawsit was filed on December 2, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio (Cleveland Division) — Case Number 1:24-cv-02088.
