April 21, 2021 — A jury awarded $4.8 million to a man who developed cancer after decades of using Old Spice Talcum Powder.
The lawsuit was filed by Willie M., a 78 year-old Vietnam War veteran who blamed his diagnosis of mesothelioma on his 22-year daily use of Old Spice Talcum Powder that was contaminated with asbestos.
The jury in Los Angeles, California, found talc supplier Whittaker Clark & Daniels was responsible for selling asbestos-tainted talcum powder and failing to warn consumers about the risk of mesothelioma.
Lawyers for the plaintiff claimed that Whittaker Clark & Daniels sold talcum powder from a mine in North Carolina that the company knew was contaminated with asbestos.
The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, Los Angeles County — Case No. BC698965.
