June 18, 2024 — A lawsuit has been filed by a man who was burned by an Instant Pot Duo Pressure Cooker that he bought from Amazon.com.
The plaintiff, Roice C., is a man from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who bought the pressure cooker online from Amazon.com in 2017.
The lawsuit alleges that on July 5, 2022, he suffered serious and substantial burn injuries when he was able to rotate and open the pressure cooker’s lid while it was still under pressure.
He was burned as a result of the scalding-hot contents of the pressure cooker being forcefully ejected, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit blames his injuries on the failure of the pressure cooker’s supposed “safety mechanisms,” which were advertised to keep the consumer safe while using the pressure cooker.
The lawsuit was filed against Amazon.com Inc., and Midea America Corp. on May 16, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico — Case 1:24-cv-00482.
