September 27, 2019 — Capitan K slightly-salted salmon pieces were recalled due to a possible risk of Listeria contamination.
The recall was announced by Euphoria Fancy Food Inc. of Brooklyn, New York.
The product is 7.05-ounce vacuum-packages of “CAPITAN K” salmon slightly salted pieces with Container Code 070519, a Best-By date of 01/30/20, and a product UPC Code 607059000362.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled salmon.
The contamination was discovered after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, according to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspector.
Consumers who bought the recalled product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms of a Listeria infection, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain or diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria infections can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
