July 12, 2024 — A woman who was infected with Salmonella after eating cucumbers from Publix has filed a food poisoning lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed by Melissa M., a woman who bought cucumbers on May 19 and June 4, 2024, at two Publix locations in St. Augustine, Florida.
The cucumbers were distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. and grown by Bedner Growers, Inc., according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges that the cucumbers were contaminated with Salmonella, which caused her to develop food poisoning.
In June 2024, she went to Urgent Care for treatment of her symptoms. Despite taking medication, her symptoms continued to worsen over the next few days. She went to another doctor, and after laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with a severe Salmonella infection.
The lawsuit was filed against defendants Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. and Bedner Growers, Inc., which are both based in Florida.
The lawsuit was filed on July 10, 2024 in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit (Palm Beach County, Florida) — Filing #202246846.
