October 30, 2024 — Costco stores in Florida recalled certain packages of Kirkland Smoked Salmon due to Listeria.
The recall was announced by Acme Smoked Fish Corp. for approximately 111 cases of Costco’s store-brand Kirkland Signature® Smoked Salmon.
The recalled smoked salmon was sold in a 12-oz. package with UPC 0 96619 25697 6, Lot# 8512801270, and Best-by-Date 11/13/2024.
The recall was issued “due to laboratory testing confirming Listeria monocytogenes on October 21, 2024,” according to the FDA.
No illnesses were reported, but infections with Listeria can be deadly. The risk is greatest for pregnant women and newborns, young children, elderly adults, and others with vulnerable immune systems.
The recalled salmon products were distributed between October 9, 2024 and October 13, 2024 at Costco stores in the Florida region only, according to the Kirkland Smoked Salmon Recall Information from Acme Smoked Fish Corp.
Anyone who ate this recalled smoked salmon should be vigilant for symptoms of Listeria. The infection can take up to 70 days to cause symptoms, and it can become invasive (spread beyond the digestive system) and quickly become severe or life-threatening.
