Bella Espresso Makers Recalled for Burn & Laceration Hazard
In March 2025, Sensio Inc. announced a recall for about 12,300 Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Makers due to a risk of burn injuries and lacerations (cuts) when the glass carafe shatters during use.
What is the Problem?
Thousands of Bella Espresso Makers were recalled because the brew cup handle can forcefully eject during use, shattering the glass carafe and posing a burn and laceration hazard, according to the recall.
How Many People Were Injured?
Sensio said it received 18 reports of the handles ejecting, 8 of which reported burn and/or laceration injuries.
Was My Espresso Machine Recalled?
The recall involves two types of steam espresso makers:
- Bella Pro Series Steam Espresso Maker (Model 90195)
- Cooks Steam Espresso Makers (Model 22395)
How To Identify Bella Espresso Makers
These espresso machines are black with stainless-steel trim and measure about 6″ wide and 12″ high. They have “Bella Pro Series” or “Cooks” on the steaming chamber.
You can locate the model number, which is identified as the “Item” number, on a sticker under the machine.
These espresso machines were sold at JCPenney stores nationwide and online at BestBuy.com and JCPenney.com from August 2023 through January 2025 for between $40 and $60.
What Should I Do?
Sensio is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled Bella Espresso Makers and contact the company for a refund, in the form of a $50 check, or a $50 e-gift card for Best Buy or JC Penney.
