Fish Dip Recalled for Listeria Risk in Banner Smoked Fish Recall
On June 8, 2021, Smilin’ Bob’s Key West Style Original Smoked Fish Dip and Smilin’ Bob’s All Natural Smoked Fish Dip were recalled because they contain smoked fish that was recalled by Banner Smoked Fish, Inc. The products were distributed in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia.
Banner Smoked Fish Recalls Expanded Again
The original recall for Banner Smoked Fish has been expanded twice, and now includes smoked fish, salads, pickled fish, and cream sauces that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The original recall was announced on June 2, 2021, for 42 products sold by Banner Smoked Fish under various brand-names.
A day later, the 1st expanded recall added 40 more products to the list.
The 2nd expanded recall added 2 more products to the list and additional states where the recalled products were sold.
The recalled smoked fish products were distributed through retailers and distributions, also online purchasing in NY, NJ, IL, PA, CA, FL, NE, AZ, MA, MD, VA, OH, NV, OR, WI, MI, WA, NC, SC, and GA area.
What is the Problem?
The recalled smoked fish products were found to be “processed under unsanitary condition” during an FDA inspection. No illnesses were reported. The recall includes a variety of smoked salmon, brook trout, lox, nova salmon, pastrami-style salmon, scotch-style salmon, smoked Norwegian-style salmon, sable, gravlax, somga, whitefish, and more.

The recalled products were sold under many brand-names, including Banner Smoked Fish, Ben Z’s, Raskin’s, Flaum, Irish Cured, Tuv Taam, Golden Taste, Hudson Valley Fisheries (New York Steelhead), Fishing Line, Homarus, Noon Hour, and more.
