Green Life Farms Baby Arugula Recalled for Salmonella Risk
In June 2024, Publix stores announced a recall for certain 4-ounce containers of Green Life Farms Baby Arugula due to a risk of Salmonella.
What Happened?
No illnesses were reported. The potential Salmonella contamination was noted after routine testing by Green Life Farms detected Salmonella in a single harvest of Baby Arugula, according to the recall.
How To Identify Recalled Baby Arugula
Green Life Farms, of Lake Worth, Florida, announced a recall for Baby Arugula (Lot #LW15124). The recalled products were sold at Publix stores after May 31, 2024. They have a sell-by date of June 15, 2024.
The product comes in a 4-ounce clear plastic package marked with the lot code stamped on top and a sell-by date of 6/15/24.
What is Salmonella?
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause food poisoning. The risk of severe infections is highest for children under 5 years old, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
For healthy adults, the illness usually lasts for 4 to 7 days. The symptoms may include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
What Should I Do?
Customers who bought the recalled Baby Arugula are urged to return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Anyone experiencing symptoms of a severe Salmonella infection should seek medical attention immediately.
Call the doctor if you have:
- Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
- Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving
- Bloody stools
- Prolonged vomiting that prevents you from keeping liquids down
- Signs of dehydration, such as:
- Making very little urine
- Dry mouth and throat
- Dizziness when standing up
