February 7, 2024 — Another type of TING® Athlete’s Foot Spray has been recalled due to benzene.
The manufacturer, Insight Pharmaceuticals, announced a recall for TING® 1% Tolnaftate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Liquid (Lot Number 0H50545 or 1G50645).
In November 2023, another recall was issued for two lots of TING 2% Miconazole Nitrate Athlete’s Foot Spray Antifungal Spray Powder (Lot Number 0H88645 or 0H88645).
In both cases, elevated levels of benzene were linked to the propellant that sprays the product out of the can. No serious injuries were reported, but benzene is classified as a human carcinogen.
Exposure to benzene is linked to several types of cancers, including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow and blood disorders which can be life-threatening, according to the recall.
