Flock Party Quack Snacks Recall
In June 2021, Manna Pro Products LLC, of St. Louis, Missouri, recalled Flock Party Quack Snacks® after a bag tested positive for Salmonella, according to the State of West Virginia.
What Poultry Snacks Were Recalled?
Flock Party Quack Snacks are a poultry treats for ducks and chickens. The recall only involves 1.68-pound bags labeled with a “Best-By” date of 12/2023. They were distributed nationwide at retail stores beginning on February 2, 2021.
What is the Risk?
Infected chickens and ducks can carry Salmonella in their intestines, even if they look healthy and clean. The germs can easily spread to the eggs, feathers, droppings, feet, and beaks.
The risk is highest when people (especially children) do not thoroughly wash their hands after touching contaminated treats, surfaces, animals, or anything in the areas where an infected animal lives and roams, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Symptoms of a Salmonella Infection
The symptoms of an infection with Salmonella may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (may be bloody), abdominal cramps, and fever. “Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms,” according to the FDA.
