Dole Blueberries Recalled for Cyclospora Risk
In June 2021, Dole Diversified North America Inc. recalled certain containers of Dole™ Fresh Blueberries due to a risk of contamination with Cyclospora, a parasite that can cause food poisoning illnesses.
Where Were The Blueberries Sold?
The recalled blueberries were distributed in four U.S. states: Illinois, Maine, New York, and Wisconsin, as well as two Canadian provinces (Alberta and British Columbia).
What Blueberries Were Recalled?
The recalled blueberries were packaged in plastic clamshell containers in a variety of sizes (18-oz., pint, 6-oz., and 24-oz.) with pack-dates in May and June 2021.

What is Cyclospora?
Cyclospora is a parasite that causes an intestinal infection called cyclosporiasis. The illness i characterized by frequent bouts of watery diarrhea. The symptoms can last for months without proper treatment.
The most common symptoms of a Cyclospora infection include severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, body aches and fatigue. The infection can be cured with antibiotic treatment.
