UPDATE: EGL Motor Recalls EGL/ACE Youth ATVs
In March 2022, EGL Motor recalled about 500 EGL® and ACE® Youth ATVs (models MADIX 110 and B125) because they pose a risk of serious injury or death.
The company is asking consumers to contact EGL Motor to make an appointment for a free repair. “Reflectors, headlights and a chest protector will be installed on the ATV. EGL will also repair the parking brake, speed capability and spark arrestor.”
The recalled ATVs were sold at AWL Distribution, BV Powersports, and other authorized dealerships nationwide from May 2020 through September 2020 for between $550 and $670.
EGL Motor Recalls Youth ATVs for Safety Hazards
On January 12, 2022, EGL Motor Inc. recalled about 2,900 EGL and ACE Youth ATVs (models MADIX 125 and D110) because they do not meet federal safety standards. The problems include:
- Children can drive the ATVs at higher than the maximum allowable speed, posing a risk of high-speed crashes.
- Handlebars pose a laceration hazard to a child’s head or body in a crash
- Parking brake does not stop the ATV from moving at the minimum required steepness
The recalled ATVs were sold at Triple J Import, AWL Distribution, D&M Motorsports and other authorized dealerships nationwide from July 2020 through March 2021 for between $650 and $850.
Safety Warning for EGL Motor ACE Youth ATV
In June 2021, EGL Motor Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission warned consumers to stop using ACE D110 youth ATVs due to a risk of severe injury or death.
What is the problem?
ACE D110 youth ATVs are advertised for use by children ages 6 and up, but they do not meet federal safety standards. The ATVs do not have mandatory maximum speed limitations. They also fail to comply with federal safety standards for ATVs intended for children.
“This poses a risk of a high-speed crash, which can result in serious injury or death, if these ATVs are used by young children.”
Where Were They Sold?
Around 1,300 ACE D110 model ATVs were sold online and at dealerships from November 2019 to February 2021, for $650 to $850.
The online locations included: www.wholesaleatv.com and www.Alibaba.com.
The dealerships included: D&M Motorsports, Dirt Cheap Motorsports, Scooter Importer LLC, SB Organization LLC, Infinity Motors, Arizona Discount ATV, JL Motorsports, C&C Motorsports, Scott Millington Motorsports, Wholesale ATV, Jaguar Power Sports, Moto El Paso, Thrifty Scooters, and Windham Powersports.
