John Derst’s Old Fashioned Bread Recalled for Salmonella
Flowers Foods Inc. also recalled Captain John Derst’s Old Fashioned Bread from stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.
What is the problem?
The recall was issued just a few days after the CDC warned customers not to eat any Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal and asked all retailers to stop selling it. Honey Smacks were linked to a Salmonella outbreak in 33 states, sickening over 100 people.
Salmonella Food Poisoning
Salmonella infections can cause severe food poisoning or even death. The symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain for 4-7 days.
