Percodan is a prescription painkiller that contains a highly-addictive opiate drug called oxycodone. Percodan overdoses can cause slow breathing, liver or kidney problems, and death.
What is Percodan?
Percodan® is a prescription painkiller that contains a synthetic opiate painkiller called oxycodone with aspirin. It is prescribed for the treatment of moderate-to-severe pain. Percodan has been sold in the U.S. since 1950 and it is now marketed by Endo Pharmaceuticals.
Percodan vs. Percocet
In the U.S., Percodan is not prescribed as often as another painkiller called Percocet® (oxycodone/acetaminophen). This is because the aspirin in Percodan can cause unwanted blood-thinning side effects.
What is the problem?
Percodan is very dangerous in high doses. Overdoses of Percoan can cause liver and kidney problems due to the aspirin in the medication. Oxycodone overdoses can also cause a person to stop breathing, lose consciousness, and suffer death. Percoan is also very addictive.
