Philadelphia Jury Awards $824K in Benzene Cancer Lawsuit

In February 2016, a jury in Philadelphia awarded $824,000 to Louis DeSorbo, a man with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) who was exposed to benzene in solvents manufactured by U.S. Steel Corp. The lawsuit was filed in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas — DeSorbo v. U.S. Steel Corp. et al. Case No. 130603450.

Benzene Lawsuit Settlement in Philadelphia

In May 2017, a mechanic with leukemia who filed a benzene lawsuit in Philadelphia was awarded a settlement mid-way through a trial. The lawsuit was filed by a repair mechanic who developed Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) after decades of exposure to benzene in gasoline, oil, solvents, adhesives, and degreasers.
